Responsibility Boundary

What Seamer Tooling Can—and Cannot—Control

A dimensionally conforming tooling set is one prerequisite for a satisfactory double seam, not the only determinant.

Layer A — Tooling

Within an agreed project scope, a tooling supplier may be responsible for geometry/profile, material, heat treatment/coating, dimensions, finish and inspection documentation.

Layer B — Machine & setup

The tooling supplier cannot automatically control spindle condition, roll bearings, lifter/base plate, alignment, timing, roll pressure, adjustment quality or overall seamer maintenance.

Layer C — Can, end & process

Can-body tolerance, flange condition, end geometry/material, sealing compound, filling/process conditions and operator setup also influence the production seam.

Final acceptance belongs at the plant

The plant / QA / responsible seaming authority should evaluate the actual seam using its approved guidelines, visual checks, teardown and measurement method.

Locked claim boundaryTooling supply alone cannot guarantee final seam quality, overlap, tightness, hermeticity, food safety, shelf life or universal compatibility. Final acceptance remains with the plant / QA / responsible seaming authority under actual production conditions.
