Chuck-to-end fitment is an application question
The chuck supports the end against the seaming rolls. A responsible replacement review therefore considers the specific end and its relevant geometry—not just a machine brand or a nominal can diameter.
Minimum chuck inputs
- seamer maker/model and station;
- can and end identification;
- existing chuck sample, drawing or measurement where lawfully available;
- lip/profile and chuck-wall information;
- mounting geometry;
- material, hardness, coating and finish requirements if known.
Wear and fitment
Chuck wear, damage or poor fitment may contribute to seam problems, but a chuck-only diagnosis is not enough to establish the root cause. Roll condition, base plate/lifter, machine setup and the can/end system remain relevant.
Inspection and matched-tooling context
Where the project scope requires it, chuck geometry/profile, mounting features, material, hardness, finish and coating should be defined and inspected against an agreed reference. If rolls are also being replaced, review the chuck together with the first- and second-operation tooling.
