Inspection is part of the agreed scope
Different applications can require different evidence. Depending on the project, the selected manufacturing route may need to document dimensions, profile, material, hardness, surface finish, coating and traceability according to the agreed qualification plan.
Potential inspection package
| Area | Possible evidence |
|---|---|
| Geometry | Critical dimensions, runout/interface features, roll groove or chuck profile |
| Material | Grade / certificate where agreed |
| Hardness | Heat-treatment / hardness result where applicable |
| Surface | Finish, coating type/thickness or visual condition as agreed |
| First article | Controlled report before repeat production |
| Traceability | Revision, lot/batch and inspection record where required |
Profile accuracy needs a defined method
“High precision” by itself is not an acceptance criterion. The project should define which dimensions/profile sections matter, what instrument or method is acceptable, and how results are recorded.
Verify the inspection route for the actual project
Profilometers, CMM/laser measurement, scanning, heat treatment, coatings and prototype processes are established tooling-industry benchmarks. The actual supplier, equipment, method and acceptance criteria must be verified for each project before they are represented as available.
